Hunter decision guide
How to connect extra shots and skill volleys with Marcus
Marcus turns ordinary shooting into a chain between Geminate Shot and Fatal Silver Bullet. One creates extra bullets from weapon fire; the other sends a broad volley using the current weapon element. Upgrade choices decide whether the chain becomes more frequent, more forceful, or more useful against groups.
Begin with Vintage Musket, then compare replacements at the same rarity and role. Fire cadence, reload behavior, critical support, and elemental payoff can each change which half of the chain contributes more.
Choose frequency, certainty, or volley impact
Early branches can raise the natural extra-shot chance or guarantee extra shots after a skill action. Other branches strengthen the volley through damage, additional projectiles, piercing, or a target debuff. A frequency route favors many weapon events; a volley route concentrates value into skill timing.
- Chance increases improve the background shooting loop.
- Guaranteed triggers reward deliberate skill sequencing.
- Piercing and marks change crowd and priority-target value rather than the permanent stat sheet.
Match the weapon to the event it supplies
Both basic skills inherit important context from the current weapon, so the weapon is more than a raw damage number. A fast weapon creates more opportunities for chance-based shots, while a stronger elemental or on-hit plan may gain more when the volley or later Transmutation branch connects. Compare the complete event chain, not DPS alone.
Keep procs and survival states conditional
Random extra shots, adaptive free volleys, reload-triggered fire rate, low-health healing, target marks, and Transmutation chances should remain in the conditional ledger. Permanent Bullet Attack can enter the stable total; effects that require a hit, reload, health threshold, or proc cannot. This distinction lets several valid routes coexist without declaring one best weapon.
